A note from the founder

Started on a couch in South Melbourne.

I'm Marcus — I quit writing patch notes for other people and started this blog in 2019 with one rule: no scores we can't defend. Every review here is played to credits, every guide is tested on the hardware we tell you about.

Today we're a three-person team publishing three deep articles a week, plus a Friday roundup. No hype cycles, no paid placements — just the games worth your weekend.

— Marcus D., Founder & Editor

Good questions

Frequently asked

How often do you publish new articles?

We ship three long-form pieces every week — typically a review on Tuesday, a guide midweek, and a patch or news breakdown on Thursday. The Friday Roundup newsletter then wraps up everything, plus the deals worth catching over the weekend.

Do you accept review copies or sponsored posts?

We happily accept review codes, but they never buy a score or guarantee coverage. We do not run sponsored reviews at all — any partnered content is clearly labelled and kept separate from editorial scoring. Reach out via the contact form to send a code.

Can I pitch a story or become a contributor?

Absolutely — we're a small team and love sharp outside voices. Send a one-paragraph pitch and a writing sample through the contact form below. We read every pitch and reply within about a week, even if it's a pass.

What platforms and genres do you cover?

Primarily PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Switch and Steam Deck. Genre-wise we lean into RPGs, roguelikes, fighting games and anything with a ranked ladder, but we cover standout indies across the board. If it's worth your weekend, we'll write about it.

Is the newsletter really free?

Yes, the Friday Roundup costs nothing and always will. We keep the lights on through clearly-marked affiliate links on deal roundups, not paywalls. You can unsubscribe with one click and we never sell your email address.
